There are several ways that you can practice environmental advocacy, regardless of your geographic or socioeconomic circumstances. You do not always need to be in a position of power to initiate influential, long-lasting change. Check out our suggestions below and contact us if you have ideas for additions to this list! There is no idea too small.
Citizen Science
Use resources like Nature's Notebook to participate in tracking, categorizing and/or observing various species.
Voting
If you live in a region that observes democratic processes, please exercise your right to vote. It is a privilege denied to many.
Practice sustainability
This can be as simple as minimizing your waste or purchasing eco-friendly products. Check out our sustainability hacks.
Stay informed
Knowledge is power. Do your best to support free access to education and keep yourself up-to-date on current events concerning nature and politics.
Clean-ups
Litter isn't just an eyesore - it can be detrimental to any ecosystem. Consider hosting or participating in a local clean-up and learn more about why litter is an issue in your region.
Garden
Gardening is an excellent hobby to benefit physical and mental health while also benefitting the local ecosystem. Plant native, pollinator-friendly plants as well as your own fruit or vegetables.
